About Jessica Gibson

Jessica Gibson is a recovering bookaholic, she's down from four books a week to a more reasonable one. It was that love of words and creativity that made her dream about writing her first book. That dream was hidden for years, always put on the back burner, filed away in the "someday" section, until her husband Matt gave her the kick in the pants she needed to actually get off her butt and write.

Jessica and Matt live in Southern California and have a serious addiction to reality tv shows like Pawn Stars and American Restoration. They have one son and hope to add to the family in the near future. Aside from writing, she runs an online event planning business called the Release Day Diva. In addition to novels, Jessica writes and maintains the blog Book on the Bright Side. Keep up with Jessica and her latest releases and events on her blog.

My Take On It:

I was given an ARC of The Harder I Fall in exchange for an honest review.

The things that stand out for me the most in this story are the raw emotions. This poor girl has been through the ringer. She has suffered pain and turmoil and nightmares that are just awful. The way Jessica Gibson brings the reader into that emotion is just awesome. You feel her pain, you feel her joy. Her every triumph is yours, her every heartache sears your heart. She has created a story with loveable characters and realistic (unfortunately) happenings and woven them into an entertaining and captivating read. Well done!!

Kiss a Girl in the Rain by Nancy Warren & GIVEAWAY!

Evan's Amazing Life List
1.Ride a motorcycle across America
2.Kiss a girl in the rain
3.Swim in every ocean…
When Evan Chance gives up a successful corporate law career to tackle the bucket list he wrote when he was twelve, he has no idea where the road will lead him.
Caitlyn Sorenson is a happily settled small town doctor. When a sexy drifter rolls into town after a motorcycle accident leaves him stranded in Miller's Pond for a few days, she can smell trouble even as she's drawn to a man who is only passing through town.
But some scorching hot nights and a blooming tenderness mean two people will have to face up to the challenges of love.
From USA Today Bestselling Author Nancy Warren comes the first in an exciting new series of sexy romances about a family named Chance.

A Sneak Peak!!

When Evan Chance read the bucket list he’d penned when he was twelve years old, he caught a glimpse of the man he‘d wanted to be when he grew up. Now, at nearly thirty-five, he knew he was not that man.

Lists were important to Evan. He had master lists of ten-year, five-year and one-year goals, broken down all the way to daily task lists. He kept a catalogue of people he hoped to meet, all corporate movers and shakers or folks who could advance his career. Ruthlessly organized and efficient, he was a top corporate lawyer at a premier firm in Seattle. Seeing his pre-teen scrawl should have made him smile at his young self. Instead, somehow that naive list of unaccomplished dreams pulled at him.

His mom never should have sent him his list of dreamy-eyed ideals along with the birthday card she’d hand made with pressed flowers and a reminder to come home for the weekend to celebrate his milestone birthday.
Thirty-five.
Evan strode across the marble lobby leading to his law firm’s offices like a man in a hurry. In fact, he had ten minutes to spare before his next client meeting. A lot of people might use those minutes to grab a coffee, chat with a colleague or relax. Evan used his elevator ride to read a priority email; the time spent walking from the elevator to his office to consider his client’s question. By the time he hit his office, he was task-ready and sat down at his computer to email back his advice.
Even as he worked, in the back of his mind he realized that his big birthday was almost here and he wasn’t anywhere near where he’d planned to be when he was a pre-teen. Okay, he was a millionaire, but that was exactly the sort of lame goal a twelve-year-old would consider important.
But lists were important to Evan. And the fact that his mother, Daphne, had sent him that old one, as though it were a thing to be prized, bothered him.
Not that a hint of his thoughts showed on his face when he walked into The Rainier Room, one of the smaller meeting rooms.  Half a dozen worried-looking executives were settling themselves around a mahogany conference table while Martha, Evan’s assistant, poured coffees and sparkling waters. Evan introduced himself and shook hands all around.
These five men and one woman were here seeking legal ways to raid their company’s pension plan. He had utter contempt for the naked greed of the president and vice presidents sitting in front of him in their hand-made suits and year round suntans hoping they could bail their asses out of the financial jam their fat paychecks and ludicrous bonuses had got them into. However, nothing on his face would give away his personal feelings. He was too good for that.
When the meeting ended, it was six o’clock. He returned to his office, typed up his own notes, then he stared out his office window at the other lighted high rises in Seattle’s financial district where he lived most of his life. In the distance he could see the harbor that led to the rest of the world. He pulled out the list. It was a bucket list made before that term even existed.

As if.
He picked up his phone and called his parents’ number. His mother answered. “Well, hello darling,” she cried when he’d identified himself. He’d learned early that when there are eleven kids in the family, you have to identify yourself on the phone or risk insane time-wasting conversations. In the background he could hear rhythmic thudding that made his heart pretty much sink. “What’s that noise, Mom?”
“Your father’s remodeling the kitchen.”
“Again?”
“Well, we had a little problem with termites from the last renovation.”
As usual, he was filled with affection and irritation in equal measure. How many times when he was growing up had they been without the most basic necessities, like running water, because their dad was ‘renovating’. Which pretty much meant grabbing a sledgehammer and bashing down walls or cabinets or bathroom fixtures. Then standing in the midst of dust and destruction trying to figure out what to do next. Jack Chance was a man of strange visions and few handy man skills. But that never stopped him.
“Please tell me there will be a working kitchen this weekend?”
“Of course there will.”
An almighty crash sounded from the other end of the phone.
“Mom?” He wondered if he should call 9-1-1.
“It’s nothing, Evan. I guess that cabinet wasn’t attached to the wall after all. Don’t worry, the kitchen will be back together when you come for your birthday weekend.”
“I’m bringing Tessa with me,” he said.
“Great. We finally get to meet her.” Then she squeaked. “No. Jack. The electric – oh, dear. Evan, I’ve got to go
“Wait. Why did you send me that stupid list of kid dreams?”
“Because you should do some of those things,” she said. “Love you. See you Friday.” And then she was gone. He suspected his birthday dinner would be raw food. Eaten by candlelight.

My Take On It:

He's handsome.  He's successful.  He's in a relationship with the "perfect" woman.  He's got more money than he'll ever spend.  He's miserable.  It takes a note from his 12 year old self and the death of his mentor to make him realize that having the perfect life just isn't what it's cracked up to be.
She's beautiful.  She's happy.  She's successful.  She's alone.  She's already learned about the perfect life and has made her escape.
A stray dog.  A lonely stretch of country road.  Fate has decided that together they have just a little more to learn.  Enter a cast of characters that will warm your heart and make you smile.  A little slice of rural living to remind you of simpler pleasures and small town adventures.
I thoroughly enjoyed Kiss a Girl in the Rain and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First, I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Now, on to the review:
Holy freaking crap! I'm not even sure where to start. I don't do spoilers and it's going to be hard to do this without them, but I'll give it a shot. This was, by far, the darkest book I've ever read. Darker than I expected. I have never read a book that made me hate, and I do mean HATE, one of the main characters. I seriously wanted to do him harm. I was like a tiny little cheerleader in the background, urging Rebecca to rain mayhem and a world of hurt down on Aiden's head. The fact that she didn't goes a long way to telling this story, although I didn't know it at the time. To say that Aiden is the master of the mind-fuck is putting it lightly. Somehow Lily White has managed to completely include the reader in the whole story and go through all of the emotions and ups and downs as Rebecca experiences them. I swear, at one point, I actually jumped at the snap of the lash! It's totally mind blowing. You definitely have to go into this book with an open mind, and be ready to go on a hell of a ride. You won't be sorry, and you might just learn a little bit more than you intended!!

Soul of Flame by Rebecca Ethington

The Time for the final battle has come.

Edmund's armies have surrounded the Rioseco Abbey, trapping the few survivors inside. The sight that Ilyan was given a thousand years ago is about to come to pass.

If only Joclyn was able to fight.

Joclyn is tormented by the hallucinations that Cail's mind has left her with, her magic an uncontrollable torrent that even Ilyan cannot control. Her moments of lucidity are broken by fears of dripping pipes and bleeding walls, and a desire to kill Ryland that she is having trouble trying to ignore.

The sight has shown her power, shown her success, but it has also shown her death - The end of her life something she is not quite willing to give up on yet.

Even past her death, the sight has shown her love, and that love may be the only key to her sanity, to her strength, and to Edmund's death.

That love may stand in her way, and a single choice may tip the scales and secure their future, or destroy their fate.

A Day in Life of Evan Grace
My day starts at 4:30am for my day job.  I work at a homecare agency where I do the schedules daily for our nurses and therapists.  At 6am I get my boys up and ready for school.  I get ready too.  I take them to school and then go to the office, where I work until 2:30p.  Then it’s back down to the school to pick them up.  We usually get home by 3pm, and then it’s time to relax (read) until the hubby gets home.  Then I make dinner and then its homework and showers.  At 7pm I sit down and write for about a hour or two.  I can sometimes get a lot written if the ideas are flowing.  Then before bed I check my work email for the next day.  I’m usually in bed by 10:30 or 11p.  It’s hectic every day, but I wouldn’t change it. Granted I’d like at least two more hours a day to get stuff done.  My weekends are when I write the most.  I’m pretty boring J

I have to admit, I didn't realize just how deeply I had gotten sucked into this story, until I happened to glance up at the clock. OMG. 3 a.m.! I seriously had to force myself to put it down. There are so many ways that this book pulls you in. The emotions sneak up on you and out of nowhere have tears sliding down your face. The close relationships shared between so many characters in the book are heartwarming and very real. Evan Grace makes these people so real and gets the reader so invested in them as friends and family that you actually miss them once you get to the end. Awesomeness!!

Falling for You by Danielle Taylor

Julia Burns can’t remember a day in her life when she didn’t have to work. So the ad in the paper sounds perfect to her – even if she does have to marry a complete stranger.
Nicholas Steele isn’t used to being around people since the accident that left him disfigured. Having a permanent house guest isn’t his idea of fun, however, the press would have a field day if they found he and his new wife weren’t residing together.
On paper, their ‘fake’ marriage fits both their needs, giving Nicholas a wife and Julia the security she’s always dreamed of having. In reality, every moment Nicholas and Julia spend together brings them closer to falling for each other.

Excerpt 1:

The thin sliver of moonlight that filled the room showed her a large shape beneath the covers and the dark hair gave her cause to believe the man was the same one she saw earlier in the library.
He thrashed against the blankets and then let out a bloodcurdling scream.
Julia rushed over, doing the only thing that she could think to do. She slid behind him and cradled the man’s head to her breastbone. “Shh, it’s alright,” she whispered, stroking her hand over his hair. It felt much softer than she imagined it would.
“Wha? Who?” The man sat up and, in a flash, pinned himself on top her. “Who the fuck are you?”
Julia couldn’t see his face in the dark but she didn’t need any light to know he was scowling at her. With her hands held high above her head and his hard, heavy body crushing her to the mattress, thighs pinning her legs where they were, a foul taste rose into her mouth. This man was just like her foster father. The feel of his body against hers evoked dread.
“Answer me!” he bellowed from above her.
“J-J-Julia B-Burns,” she stuttered through tears.
“And what the fuck are you doing in my bedroom?”
Attempting to swallow down the horrid tasting acid that rose up into her mouth like waves proved to be an exercise in futility. “I-I heard…” What had she heard?
“Well?” he demanded.
“Please, I…I need to get up.”
Only when she began dry heaving did he released her arms and move his weight from on top of her. Julia curled into herself, wracking with sobs. Her chest felt tight, stomach roiled. Memories of the past assaulted her, combined with the events of moments ago.
What possessed her to come in here? She should have just left the man alone.
“Go back to your room, Miss Burns,” he deadpanned. “We have a busy day tomorrow.”
Scrambling to her feet, Julia fled from his room and jumped back into bed. Only once she pulled the covers up to her chin in her own room did Julia realize that she just came face to face with her future husband.

Excerpt 2:

Her soft, lush body pressed against his. Lips plump and rose-petal pink opened slightly in…anticipation?
He didn’t have another second to consider what she might be feeling. Julia lunged at him, her intent clear from the moment her lips met with his. Stunned by the ferocity of her passion, filling his body with a need so powerful he didn’t know if he could contain it, Nicholas remained stiff and unmoving beneath her sweet and ceaseless attack.
Part of him wondered if this was forced. That she might be attempting to prove she had some shred of virtue within the seemingly sweet exterior she wore. Most women wouldn’t keep insisting though, the way she was. Julia’s hand remained on his cheek, gentle, tenderly caressing his scarred flesh. No other woman had done such a thing since the accident.
When he parted his lips, granting her access, Nicholas hadn’t been prepared for the sheer erotic torment that this woman in control a kiss could provide. His every nerve shook, tilting the balance of power in her favour. Her tongue mating with his was utter torture to his hands, planted firmly at his sides. The need to fill his palms with her breasts rose to the height of desperation itself.
“I can’t stop myself from wanting you, Julia,” he murmured between a succession of feather light kisses up to the shell of her ear.
She made him ache for her in a way he was unaccustomed to feeling, as if Julia and only Julia would be enough to grant him what he needed. In the short time he’d come to know her, she had become his everything.
“Nicholas,” she said on a sigh, baring her throat to him. “Don’t stop.”
Her words spurred him on, sent a rush of unknown sensations flooding his system and overpowering his mind. Slightly harder than he meant to, Nicholas grasped the bounty of her breasts in his hands.
He couldn’t tell if he moaned, or if it was Julia. Perhaps they both did. And he couldn’t tell which felt more sensuous; the stiff peaks of her nipples as they grazed his palms through her dress or the tantalizing taste of her flesh.
Nicholas feasted on her neck, gliding ever closer to the mounds in his hands. Just the image of his mouth on her breasts had his cock hardening almost painfully, straining against his tuxedo trousers.
The dress, though gorgeous on her, was now a nuisance. Before going any further, he needed to remove this barrier. “Turn around,” his gruff voice – one which he didn’t quite recognize – demanded of her.
Julia didn’t flinch or hesitate. She simply spun in his arms and hung her chin down to her chest, holding her hair out of the way while he made quick work of the laces with fumbling fingers.
When was the last time he needed a woman the way he needed Julia?
Had he always felt this frantic for sex?
Or was this something else entirely?

Donna McDonald's Sci-Fi Tour

TOUR BANNER

SCI FI COVER

SYNOPSIS

his is Book 5 of the Forced To Serve series.

Despite being energetically compelled to do so, Malachi was tired of chasing after a physical body with the wrong female spirit living inside it. What was the point? The real Rena Trax was back in her form and his feisty emissary was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t fair. She had left him with a million unanswered questions and no worthy being to debate them with. But why did he even care? He was an alien spirit. He was the Demon of Synar. No female, regardless of how powerful, could change that fact.

EXCERPT

“If you hadn’t done this, more than just these two innocent beings would have died. As it was, Karr was seriously injured. So was the Allurean. They only live because of your actions—yours and Synar’s. Meen was going to kill to get what he wanted. Killing was in his intentions far more than it is in yours these days. The truth is here in this room if you can see it. You have changed, demon.”

SYNOPSIS

Being captain of his own rescue ship is the life Liam Synar has always dreamed of living. Being master of a hereditary demon is not. Coveting Malachi's power, his exiled brother hunts him to capture the demon that Liam's life mate unknowingly hosts. Putting Malachi inside Ania two years ago had been an act to save her when she almost died saving his. If only the demon hadn't killed again.

EXCERPT

Watching her now, his body clamored to go to her. Demon or not, he still wanted Ania Looren with the same raging need he had felt the first time. And now he wanted her even more desperately after all the time they’d been apart. Shades of Kellnor, why couldn’t he have realized this was going to happen two years ago?

Ania stopped moving when she felt Synar’s thoughts. “You didn’t figure it out two years ago because you only allowed yourself to think of one option, which was staying away. You accuse me of hiding truths, but you lied about coming back for me. That’s why I filed the mating dissolution form. I no longer wished to be at the mercy of your indecisive mind that changes like the shifting winds of Terlon.”

Synar went to the wall rack, picked out a defense staff matching hers, and walked to the mat. “Fine. You think you know my intentions and true feelings. Make me leave you alone.”

“I am Khalsa. It is easily done.” Ania sliced the air around her, following the staff with a sweeping glare.

“I disagree. Eventually, I will figure out how to appease you, Ania. Maybe I do deserve some of your wrath, but I won’t fall at your feet as quickly as Gwen. If you defeat me fairly, I’ll heed your demands. If I win, you must agree to forgive me.”

“You can’t defeat me, Synar. Have you ever won a fight with Dorian?”

“Dorian isn’t here. And he isn’t you,” Synar said sharply, smiling at Ania’s confidence. He was now getting excited at the prospect of getting his hands on her. “Dorian says I’m getting closer to defeating him. He says I’m faster than I used to be. After centuries of not fighting, you’re way out of practice. I figure that gives me a fair chance.”

Ania snorted. “How can you talk about being fair? You tricked me into your bed the first time with promises of affection and declarations of need that would have wooed any female. I still don’t know why I agreed.”

Synar’s answer was to smile wickedly at her confession. Her body shivered in response. A frisson of awareness zipped along her nerve endings, and what followed was so unfamiliar Ania almost didn’t recognize how aroused she suddenly was. The feeling was so disconcerting that it felt like illness to her.

“I remember our first bonding time like it happened only moments ago. I was just as desperate for you then as I am right now,” Synar said quietly, never taking his eyes from her.

Her life force pushed and pressed against every cell until Ania spun her defense staff to create a wider distance between them. Seeing him retreat was a reminder to her body not to betray her to this male. It was also a reminder to Synar that she wasn’t receptive to his words, no matter what she was feeling.

“Speak with Dorian. He can help you get some physical relief,” Ania instructed, lifting her chin.

“So can you,” Synar said, smiling again because he could see she was distressed. Beyond that though was more—much more. And he wanted to know what it was.
